Artists are formally invited to participate in the Dandelion Plein Air Competition and Show by creating an original plein air painting or drawing capturing any location within the city limits of Waukegan, IL. While the city offers a multitude of captivating settings for artistic interpretation, collaborative sessions are organized at various sites on specific dates: July 13th, 20th, 27th, August 3rd, and 10th.

Comprehensive details regarding locations and exhibition particulars will be provided post-registration.

 

Entry Deadline: April 21, 2024

Entry Fee: $40

Artworks must be finalized between July 5th and August 10th, 2024.

​

 

Submitted pieces will be displayed and offered for sale at Dandelion Gallery & Studios from August 17th to 14th.

2024 AWARD WINNERS

Plein air painting demands artists to exhibit their mastery and ingenuity within a restricted timeframe amid unpredictable environmental conditions. The Plein Air competition underscores historical sites and architectural wonders in Waukegan, IL.

 

Terms and Conditions

​

o   All artwork must be the original of the artist submitting the entry.  Artwork must be original plein air produced.

o   Acceptable mediums: painting, drawing, pastel oil or chalk. 

o   Artwork must be completed July - Aug 10th, 2024.

o   Artwork must be properly wired in the back to properly exhibit on the wall. 

o   Dandelion Gallery & Studio reserves the right to remove any artwork from their space for not following the rules, regulations, terms and conditions set forth.

o   Artists must respect the gallery, their station, and each other’s space at all times. Any form of violence, harassment, prejudice, harmful behavior will not be tolerated in our safe creative environment.
