What if the buildings we pass every day are more than places we live, work, gather, and travel through? What if they are works of art themselves?

​

Dandelion Gallery & Studios invites you to experience The Beauty of Architectural Design: Buildings, Structures & Beyond, an exhibition exploring the creativity, history, character, and unexpected beauty found throughout our built environment.

At the center of the exhibition is Featured Artist and Dandelion Artist Alliance member Shawn Killackey, whose work captures architecture with remarkable detail while inviting viewers to notice the personality and stories held within each structure. Shawn will unveil his newest collection alongside works by fellow Dandelion Artist Alliance members, creating an exhibition filled with different artistic interpretations of the spaces that surround us.

From historic landmarks and familiar neighborhood buildings to bridges, skylines, homes, industrial spaces, architectural details, and imagined structures, the exhibition demonstrates how something as familiar as a building can become extraordinary when viewed through an artist’s eyes.

​

Look closer and you may notice something you have passed hundreds of times—the curve of an archway, the rhythm of windows across a building, the character of weathered brick, the dramatic geometry of a skyline, or the way light and shadow completely transform a familiar structure.

​

Architecture tells stories. It reflects the people who designed it, the communities that grew around it, the history it has witnessed, and the possibilities we imagine for the future.

​

The Beauty of Architectural Design celebrates those stories while challenging visitors to see their own surroundings differently.

 

Experience the Showcase Event

During the Opening Reception & Artist Showcase, meet exhibiting artists, explore Shawn Killackey’s newest collection, enjoy complimentary refreshments, and experience an evening where art, architecture, imagination, and community come together.

Guests of all ages are also invited to become creators through interactive experiences inspired by the exhibition:

 

LEGO Community Building Challenge
Help us create a community from the ground up! Build a home, tower, bridge, park, landmark, or something completely unexpected and add it to our growing collaborative LEGO city.

 

Hands-On Architectural Art Experience
Experiment with lines, shapes, patterns, perspective, and structure to create your own artwork inspired by architecture and design.

$5 Community Tile Project
Create an original tile that will eventually become part of a larger collaborative mural. Each individual creation becomes one piece of something greater—a reminder that both art and strong communities are built one piece at a time.

What happens when we stop simply walking past the places around us and begin really looking at them?

You may discover that art isn't only something displayed inside a building. Sometimes, the building itself is the art.
